Whole Lotta Orange

April 30, 2021

Outer Park is back with a second album, “Whole Lotta Orange,” another mashed-up, mixed-up and modernized journey through the diverse styles & sounds that distinguished the dawn of underground radio. Vocalist Chelsea Austin brings a contemporary perspective to the collaboration that guitarist Patrick S. Noonan, bassist James Singleton, and keyboardist Charles Tobermann began over 50 years ago.

The ten new tunes, recorded at New Orleans’ beautiful Esplanade Studios by engineer Misha Kachkachishvili, include originals by Charles Tobermann and James Singleton, plus imaginative new versions of songs by Joni Mitchell, Pink Floyd, Muddy Waters, Imogen Heap, and more!

The band again embraces a wild and fresh juxtaposition of folk, rock, jazz, blues, Americana, psychedelic and other styles that were the hallmark of early free-form FM. Drummer Jason Marsalis returns, along with other special guests Paul Lieberman, Franck Chevalier and Simon Couratier.

Here’s the track lineup:

1. One Big Love (Patty Griffin)
2. Blanket (Imogen Heap)
3. Foxy Roxy (James Singleton)
4. Tall Trees in Georgia (Buffy Sainte-Marie)
5. Rollin’ and Tumblin’ (Muddy Waters)
6. Paradise Lost (Charles Tobermann)
7. Lucifer Sam (Syd Barrett)
8. Make the World Magic Again (Charles Tobermann)
9. The Dry Cleaner from Des Moines (Joni Mitchell & Charles Mingus)
10. Woodstock (Joni Mitchell)
